JP's Flower Chain for Monica
Because love shouldn't arrive all at once.
In the days after losing someone we love, flowers arrive everywhere. They are beautiful reminders of how many people care. But eventually those flowers begin to fade, even while our love and remembrance remain.
As the flowers surrounding Monica have begun to wilt, she gently shared that she would love a few fresh blooms for JP’s viewing on Wednesday. It was such a simple thought, but it brought to mind something we often forget about grief: so much love arrives in the beginning, while the need to feel surrounded by that love continues long after.
So we thought, what if the flowers didn’t all come at once?
We would love to create a flower chain for Monica, with friends and loved ones choosing different days to send or personally deliver a few fresh blooms in the weeks and months ahead.
Our hope is that every few days, something beautiful arrives at her door. A small reminder that JP is still being remembered, that his life continues to touch the people who loved him, and that Monica is not walking through this season alone.
It does not need to be elaborate.
A grocery-store bouquet, flowers from your garden, a small plant, or an arrangement from a florist are all perfect. This is not about how much anyone spends. It is simply about continuing to show up.
Roses were JP’s favorite flower, and peonies are Monica’s, if you’d like that little extra meaning.
This Wednesday, August 19 — JP’s viewing.
Wednesday is JP’s viewing before his cremation, and Monica would love the room to feel full of fresh blooms. Because of that, this one day is open to three flower sign-ups instead of one. If you are able to send or bring something for that morning, it would mean a great deal.
Three dates that hold a little more.
August 22 is JP’s birthday, November 25 is JP and Monica’s anniversary, and Christmas Eve is Monica’s birthday. All three are marked on the calendar below, along with dates carrying us through the end of the year.
